Foundations Unit 11

When a syllable has a vowel followed by an /r/, the vowel has a special sound.
For example:

  • /ar/says “ar” as in car
  • /Or/ says “or” as in a fort
  • /er/, /ir/, and /ur/ say “er” as in fern, bird, and church
